Caleb and the Spoon!

Caleb and Spaghetti

Our good friends, David and Sarah, came over Sunday night and brought some yummy spaghetti.  Caleb LOVED it!  I am not sure what he liked more though, sitting on Daddy's lap, eating off Daddy's plate, the noodles, or the taste, but either way, Caleb enjoyed himself!  (So did Daddy ;))
Caleb is looking more and more like his Daddy everyday!!

Caleb just puts his hand up sometimes and we are not sure if he wants to swat a fly, do a high five or just a cheering motion because that tends to be what he does after we do one of those things!

1st Tornado Scare

Caleb and I had an exciting tornado scare last week!  Of course his first, but my first as well.  The clouds were really dark; it was really windy and there was an emergency alert over the intercom system telling everyone to take shelter.  I was not sure if that meant stay in your homes because you should be inside anyways when its windy and raining, so I assumed it meant "take cover."  So after to talking to my mom to figure out where the best place would be since we do not have a bath tub on the main floor, and I remember as a kid to tuck into a ball on the bathroom floor in elementary school....off to the bathroom we went.  It was lunch time for Caleb, so I just pulled the high chair inside since entertaining a 1 year old in a bathroom for who knows how long could get a little bit challenging.  We were well equipped with the pantry across the bathroom, so I grabbed the goldfish, some cheerios, water and a candle with some matches and a automatic lighter thing, my cell phone and that was about it.  A couple of our friends from across the street also from Colorado and I were texting back and forth while they too were in their bathrooms waiting.  It was a lot of commotion, but nothing right here where we lived happened.  In other areas the tornado actually touched down, but it was quite a little adventure!

Caleb wasn't feeling too well in the above picture and unhappy with having to hang out in his high chair, just an fyi.

Caleb's 1st Attempt with a Spoon

At Caleb's 1 year check-up we were told to start practicing with a spoon-I thought the doctor was nuts, but here we are practicing.  We decided to try some applesauce since it somewhat stays on the spoon.  Caleb didn't do terrible.  He tried to turn the spoon into his mouth which would spill half of the applesauce on him, but hey, thats what bibs are for I guess!  He did manage to hold the spoon with one hand and grab some applesauce with his other.  I found this cool bowl though that suctions to the tray and has a "scooper" round piece on it that allows for Caleb to try and scoop food without it spilling over the edges.  I know, I know.......you are all saying, "They didn't make those when you were younger!"  I was pretty impressed too!

All that matters is that Caleb has fun while learning!!

Caleb with Spikey Hair

Caleb smeared some bananas in his hair at dinner, so Jarred thought it would be fun to spike Caleb's hair!!  It wasn't going down at all-it was stuck up there the rest of the night!

Caleb Helping in the Kitchen

We have a "Caleb drawer" in the kitchen with some fun kitchen tools for Caleb to play with while we are cooking, and one of those things are our aprons.  He is learning to put things on him and figure them out, so here is our Caleb trying to walk around with this giant apron on!  It was too long as you can see it is tucked between and behind his legs.  He just had so much fun walking around in it.  We sometimes put Jarred's hats on him or sunglasses and he walks so carefully with them on and just giggles!!
